- The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited – Message Board. It always checks prior files to make sure you're current and then goes to download the patch. This is standard with MMOs but not something we're used to seeing with consoles. Putting the PS4 in rest mode may help. Perhaps you should.

PS4 NA/PC NA
2 years agoFor some strange reason (and its been this way since launch) the PS4 will tell you what the entire patch size is as if you had just installed the game rather than giving you the incremental patch size.
To save yourself some time, put your PS4 into rest mode for 15 or so minutes and the download will complete super quick. If you don't put it into rest mode it will seem like it needs to download the full patch. (Don't worry it won't, but it will seem that way.)
This is something you will have to do for every patch (from 100 MB to 13 GB). unless something changes. Hope this helps you get into the game faster.
EDIT: Its 600 MB. Source

The PlayStation 4 version of Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited got its first incremental patch today in the form of a 15.9 GB update.Patch version 01.04 is so large because it combines patches 01.01 through 01.03. The Elder Scrolls Online team acknowledged the 'frustrating' patch size on Twitter, stating their efforts to avoid cumulative patches like this in the future.Because of the update's size, there are a ton of new changes.According to the official patch notes, overall game performance is improved, as well as the queue system screen, UI, quests, gameplay, and more.

Some crashes and common issues were also addressed. The frequency of the invisible NPC issue, for example, has been reduced, but not eliminated entirely, so you may still encounter them in-game. The patch notes refer to this fix as an 'ongoing work in progress.'
